June 25th 2013 - The series of 12 drawings Conté (pencil) began on a cold, bright day of February in 2012. It was this need of letting go, let the light and shadow take on a life of their own, revealing to be a source of inspiration. During these 8 months, new forms have been born between reality and abstraction. Gray-black and white have imposed themselves with almost brutal clarity, colorless except for some blue. Finding again the contact with the pencil, my hand alternately scratched and embraced the sheets of paper. The graphite created harsh or velvety appearances on peaks and valleys of paper. I have finally found the taste of the material again. The first paintings followed a few months later, in February 2013, in shades of winter.
